Compared to wireless modules, Bluetooth is intended for less heavy data transfer and supplies a short range (usually 30 feet) than wireless receivers. Although wireless receivers provide a more stable connection and longer range, the downside is having to connect via a small thumb drive-like device (an RF or wireless receiver).
The Best Wireless Connection For Mac
By far Bluetooth on MacBooks is more common than setting up wireless devices to Apple Laptop devices. This is due to requiring an additional apple dongle for mac devices (i.e. USB-thunderbolt hub for additional USB A ports). And even with a dongle, you might run into issues where it might not even work at all!. However, your best bet, if you still want to use a USB dongle receiver, is to see if the keyboard company has a type-C receiver option. If not, just rely on Apple’s dongles for the best possible compatibility.

The Macally ACEBTKEY is a Bluetooth keyboard (no receiver needed). It basically has everything you need for your Apple workspace. It’s rechargeable and supports up to three Bluetooth devices like a MacBook, iPhone, and iPad altogether! Plus with 20 Mac-specific shortcuts, your workflow will feel incredibly practical and convenient. But more importantly, the price only hovers around $40 to $50, which is really helpful if needing to cut some costs.
The Macally RFCOMPACTKYE is an RF Wireless keyboard (receiver required). However, it’s still easy to set up, AS LONG AS YOU HAVE A USB-A PORT. If so, you’ll receive an incredible 2.4 GHz wireless signal that’s uninterrupted from any other wireless device (trying to compete). And with the plug-and-play design, you’ll get to jump right into your workflow with no hassle. Just keep in mind this is designed specifically for Windows.
